Matt was born in Guildford, Surrey and still lives and works in West London. He has been making art since the early 1970's.  He started by teaching himself Photography aged 11 and produced his own photography with a dark room in a garage.  In the early 1980s he taught himself how to make holograms and went on to become one of only 24 people in the world to attain an MA, in Holography from the Royal College of Art. In 1989 he won The Prudential Award for Holography and a John Downs Trust New Media Award.

Following The RCA, Matt was selected as one of the Young British Holographic Artists who toured the world with a hologram exhibition, which included The Museum of Holography NY, The Science Museum London, the Israel National Museum of Science, Technology and Space amongst others. This was quickly followed by a major grant from South East Arts to take his revolutionary interactive Water Holograms on a UK tour. 


As the first fine artist in the UK to use the lenticular medium, Matt can be described as the leading expert in this field. Matt has lectured in Universities, appeared on TV and radio internationally.  

Matt exhibits his artworks regularly in solo and group shows in the UK and internationally. His works are held in many private collections worldwide. (

Commercial commissions include; Ralph Lauren Christmas windows, Bond Street, London, Swarovski -70 countries world wide, 120th anniversary Windows for Jaeger nationwide, the opening window display for Garrard, Royal Jewellers, the Foyer for Coke Cola, Diageo, Imperial Tobacco and artworks for the entire 5 story Chevron Headquarters in London.

Portraiture, Matt excels at personalising portraiture though the medium of Lenticular. This is particularly successful with family portraits. Clients provide personal images which are translated into an animated collage, telling a personalised story of the individual, family or chosen subject. ( This design idea is unique to Matt who invented and copyrighted the process.

Celebrity Collages. Matt has translated his lenticular design concept into images of well known “stars” from history, uniquely conveying the individual personality, life and allure of the celebrity. Commissioned for hotels and private clients these artworks add charisma, interaction and glamour to interior spaces. (

Fine Art.  His new work, Deep Chaos. is an exciting series of Light Sculptures interpreting space/time in 3 Dimension.
